Real Heroes

A real hero for Christ is not often a mighty Goliath that towers over his enemies, but rather it is somebody who has faith in God even though the odds are against them. Because David knew God was able to help him Defeat Goliath, be became a Biblical hero that we teach to our children. In I Samuel 17:37 David said, "The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine".

Real heroes are empowered by faith in God because their faith gives them the bravery to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. For example, empowered children can have the bravery to stand up to a bully that is ridiculing them or someone else for believing. By that act of bravery, others have the strength to stand up against the bully, and then the bully is outnumbered. By one act of bravery the bully may question his beliefs and trust in the Lord. You don't have to cross seas to be a missionary; be a missionary right where you are!

In Christ you also can overcome lions, giants, and obstacles that confront you, or just deal with day by day life. What lions are trying to devour you? A lion of drinking, drugs, and crime? What giants must you defeat? A giant of depression, despair, disease? What obstacles are overwhelming you? Betrayal of friends, injuries, confronting a bully, or getting out of a gang? Christ can save and help you if you are willing to trust him.
