Real Victors
A Real Victor for Christ is not often a mighty Goliath that towers over his enemies, but rather it is someone who has faith in God even though the odds are against him. Because David knew God could to help him defeat Goliath, he became a great victorious Biblical character. In I Samuel 17:37 David said, “the Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.”
Real victors because of their faith in God are able to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. One of the most difficult places to stand for Christ is right where you are, for example, at school, at work, at sports events, at home, or in the military. The Bible says in Romans 8:37, “…in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” The theme of the original inner-city missionary project that the plays are based on was “Be a Missionary Right Where You Are!” If you are not willing to stand for Jesus right where you are, you are not likely to stand for Him somewhere else. You do not have to cross the seas to be a missionary; be a missionary right where you are.
In Christ you also can overcome the lions, giants, and obstacles that confront you as you face life day by day. What lions are trying to devour you, the lion of alcohol, drugs or crime? What giants must you defeat, the giant of depression, despair, disease, or the desire of material things? What obstacles are overwhelming you, the betrayal of friends, bodily injuries, getting out of a gang or whatever? Christ is able to save and help you if you will just trust Him.
